We are all living in a fast-paced, social media-driven world. Every day, we scroll through new trends, see what is going viral, and sometimes even wait to see how many ‘Likes’ we get. Without realising it, all this can make us feel left out, anxious, or like we are “not enough” when others seem to be doing better. This is what we call FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). It is that pressure that can push us to make impulsive decisions, like spending more than we can afford just to keep up
On the flip side, there is JOMO (Joy of Missing Out) that teaches us to choose a slower, more intentional lifestyle and being okay with not following every trend. With JOMO, we focus on what actually matters to us and make smarter financial decisions, not because of pressure, but because we know it is better for our future
This whole idea of FOMO and JOMO is what MyDuitStory 6.0 (MDS 6.0 is all about. Organised by the Financial Education Network (FEN), it is a short video competition that highlights how these behaviours affect the way young manage their money
MDS 6.0 is your space to share real, relatable stories that inspire others. It is also a chance to help your friends and community better understand FOMO and JOMO, so they can choose a lifestyle that actually works for them
So, do not miss out! Get creative and make a video that inspires others to manage FOMO and embrace JOMO in their everyday choices

YOUR INSPIRATION STARTS HERE!
Do you have your own experiences or perspectives on the FOMO and JOMO lifestyle that you would like to share? Turn them into inspiration for your MDS 6.0 submission. Combine your ideas with practical financial management tips in your video. To help you get started, we have provided a few articles to deepen your understanding of FOMO and JOMO
For example, FOMO can lead to impulsive spending and the use of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services just to keep up with current trends, which may eventually result in mounting debt and financial stress. On the other hand, choosing JOMO helps us build a stronger financial future, such as by creating an emergency fund, increasing savings, or starting to invest
