MALAYSIA NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR FINANCIAL LITERACY 2019-2023

FEN in collaboration with Bernama is launching a 7-episode talk show at Ruang Bicara Bersama FEN to equip Malaysians with financial knowledge and skills that are essential in the new normal.
The discussions will include helping households and micro-SMEs in managing their cash flow, prudent financial and debt management, alerting the public on the latest financial fraud activities, adoption of e-payment, investment options and readiness to adopt new normal.
The talk show will be aired fortnightly on Thursday, 9 p.m at Bernama TV (Astro 502, unifi TV 631 and myFreeview 121) starting 18 June to 10 September 2020.
Malaysia National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2019-2023
The National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2019 – 2023 (National Strategy) is a holistic five-year plan aimed at improving the financial well-being of Malaysians by elevating financial literacy of Malaysians and promoting responsible behaviour and rational attitude. It is formulated by the Financial Education Network and launched on 23 July 2019.
The National Strategy sets out priorities and actionable plans to equip Malaysians with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions and nurture healthy attitudes in financial management. The Financial Education Network is committed to deliver the National Strategy by empowering individuals to manage money wisely, plan ahead and invest for their future, and protect themselves from financial fraud and abuse. The priorities identified under the National Strategy to achieve this are:
- Nurture values from young
- Increase access to financial management information, tools and
resources - Inculcate positive behaviour among targeted groups
- Boost long term financial and retirement planning
- Build and safeguard wealth

Financial Education Network
The Financial Education Network is an inter-agency grouping co-chaired by Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia and with members comprising Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia, Employees Provident Fund, Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit and Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
Established in 2016, the Financial Education Network serves as an inter-agency platform to increase the impact of financial education initiatives and identify new opportunities to elevate financial literacy among Malaysians through greater alignment, closer collaboration and a strong focus on impact assessments.
The Financial Education Network is committed to work collaboratively with partners in a holistic manner to achieve the vision of the National Strategy. The Financial Education Network welcomes and encourages individuals and organisations to be a part of this important agenda in helping Malaysians improve their financial well-being and building a strong foundation for the nation’s financial future.
